DoReMi E&T - DoReMi education and training - protection of Man and Enviroment

Tildelt: kr 90 999

This project is a submission to the DoReMi call for education and training courses. This is funded by a separate internal budget in the DoReMi EC project (see http://www.doremi-noe.net/training_and_education.html). The projects are currently under evaluat ion by the DoReMi E&T board. Assessing Risks to Man and Environment (KJM360) is a two week intensive course held at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences as part of the ongoing MSc in Radioecology and PhD Research School in Ecotoxicology. The course gives either 5 or 10 ECTS, depending on the choice of examination, and is run every 2 years. The course also gives certification for training in the ERICA Assessment Tool, and is thus open to both students and professionals. Teaching fees for students i n Norway are relatively low (40 EUR) even for accredited courses. The application to DoReMi will extend places to 6-8 external participants, and involve SU lecturers on the course. This will also foster an important collaboration between the STAR/COMET a nd DoReMi/Melodi EU projects, as well as strengthening networking with students and professionals. The collaboration between UMB and SU will promote ongoing plans for collaboration on an EU MSc in Radiobiology, and permit us to explore the joint EU educat ion and training activities forseen within Horizon 2020, such as the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET), which is the developing European system to facilitate the recognition and ac-cumulation of work-related skills (http ://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-policy/ecvet_en.htm).
