'Transformations in Knowledge and Professional Learning': The 7th EARLI SIG 14 conference on Learning and Professional Development

'Learning and professional development' is one of the largest special interest groups in the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), with around 250 members from across Europe. Conferences for this group are organized bi-ann ually, and the tradition is that the leaving coordinator of the SIG hosts the next conference in his/her University. Professor Leif Chr. Lahn, University of Oslo, was SIG-coordinator in the period 2009-2011, and the Faculty of Education, UiO, is thus expe cted to host the upcoming SIG conference. The conference will gather researchers from various institutions across Europe (up to 250 participants) to present and discuss their work. By organising the program around paper presentations, symposia and round tables, we will secure active participation and lay the ground for future research collaboration across national boundaries. The conference is also a good opportunity to bring Norwegian research groups on learning and instruction in contact with an inter national community and provide an opportunity for Scandinavian perspectives to be more visible in this field. The planning of the conference is already well on its way. Three distinguished keynote speakers have confirmed their contributions, from Sweden , Germany and New Zealand respectively. Many others have expressed interest in organising symposiums and submitting proposals. The local organising committee includes members from the teacher education community and the SFU ProTED, to secure participation and knowledge sharing also within this professional field. A conference webpage is opened, and the announcement of the conference has started and will be intensified in the fall term. We may also mention that the Mayor of Oslo invites all conference part icipants to a Welcome reception in the City Hall. The conference will last for 3 days with an additional pre-conference activity for PhD students. Please see the attached proposal for more information.
