Ideas in History (IiH) has been published since 2006. In that time, IiH has served as the only major English-language journal in intellectual history published in Scandinavia. IiH has therefore been an important outlet for Scandinavian intellectual histor ians -- and scholars in related fields -- to disseminate their work in English. In addition to providing an English-language outlet for Scandinavian scholars, IiH has maintained an international profile. This includes the publication articles by well-know n intellectual historians such as Quentin Skinner, Allan Megill and Warren Breckman and in relation to international events such as the Conference "Telling the Past Now," hosted at Aarhus University in 2007 (special issue published in 2009). Last year's i ssue of the journal included a unique issue on the history of economic thought, relatively new in the history of ideas. The number of internationally-oriented journals in intellectual history is small: Journal of the History of Ideas (University of Pennsy lvania Press), Modern Intellectual History (Cambridge University Press), Intellectual History Review (Routledge) and The European Legacy (Routledge). There is continued room for a fourth journal on the international stage in this traditional, yet importan t (and interdisciplinary) field within the humanities and social sciences. Ideas in History is beginning to fill that role.
