Remote Controlled and Autonomous Measurement Platforms Flagship

Tildelt: kr 0,40 mill.

The ReCAMP Flagship project has a multidisciplinary membership ranging from electrical and mechanical engineering to the many disciplines of natural sciences. The main purpose of the Flagship is to exchange experience with the new platforms both within each disciplines across the different platforms and groups as well as between the end users of the data up the chain to the platform operation, system development and design scientists. There are few meeting places coupling these scientists even though this collaboration is essential for getting good systems and good data. The Flagship will in particular address the following unique issues and challenges in the arctic: - Communication - Platform Navigation - Platform robustness - Cross platform opportunities - Sensor Inter comparison - Better smart and independent platforms - Remote Power solutions The project will address these issues using workshops and short term scientific missions as a tool to exchange knowledge and coordinate activities. To ensure that the knowledge is shared with all scientific platform operators and scientist, the Flagship will host webpages sharing experiences and solutions as well as plans for future deployments. Further through interaction with the other Flagships and the SIOS Knowledge Center ReCAMP will coordinate the use of the platforms by the different partners and their collaborators to maximize scientific yield by allowing tag on projects thus reducing the overall cost of the data collection for each scientist and project. Since the deployment and operation of the platforms is expensive the ReCAMP project will be an important tool for increasing success rates and data quality and at the same time keeping the cost of data collection down and avoid unnecessary duplication.
