Organizing an international conference on microscopy in Trondheim in June 2016.

Tildelt: kr 0,20 mill.

We seek support for organizing a scientific meeting on advanced microscopy in the framework of the annual Nordic microscopy conference, called SCANDEM in Trondheim from 7-10 June, 2016.Each year in June the meeting is organized in one of the Nordic countries. The last time in Trondheim was in 1994. The next SCANDEM will be the 67th meeting. Participants are scientists, research technicians and students (master and Ph.D.level) from biomedical, physical, chemical, geological and nanoscience related disciplines from all faculties in NTNU. The program includes parallel sessions for life science topics and material science to cover recent developments in physics, the program also includes joint sessions that cover microscopy highlights that are of interest for all microscopists and serve to enhance interaction between the different fields of expertise. Recent large infrastructural investments in electron microscopy were made through NORTEM at the Physics Department including SINTEF as partner, furthermore in the Nanolab and in the Cellular and Molecular Imaging Center (CMIC) at the medical faculty. The conference will be held in the large building in Realfagbygget, that can accommodate lecture halls, poster sessions, as well as exhibits and demonstrations by companies that will have their products on display.
