Breeze produktet er en ny metode for måling av lungefunksjonen. Standardmetoden for peak ekspiratorisk flow (PEF) er bruken av peak flow metere. Disse fungerer ved at utpustet passerer gjennom et metalrør hvilket flytter på en liten viser på siden av røret. Bruken av dette utstyr er vanskelig og det er nødvendig med gjentatte målinger for å oppnå et sikkert resultat. Breeze produktet måler også PEF, men ut fra analysen av lyden fra en fløjte. Fløjten har ikke bevegelige eller elektroniske dele. Den er liten og enkel samt utformet som en leke så den appelerer til barn. Den medfølgende smarttelefon app analyserer målingene, lagrer disse i en data-sky og gjennomfører analyser som deles med brukeren og helsepersonell.

We will bring to market an innovative medical device for in-home asthma diagnostics, monitoring and management, specially designed for the paediatric population. The "Breeze" solution provides direct quantification of airway condition by combining: (1) a novel measuring device, and (2) a comprehensive smartphone/tablet App for recording, displaying and utilising measurements in diagnosis, monitoring and management of asthma in children. Asthma is the most common chronic childhood disease. Poor asthma management is frequent, resulting in low quality of life and preventable fatalities. Good asthma management requires daily in-home monitoring of lung function but the current standard, spirometry, is outdated, inaccurate and cumbersome in use. To satisfy the unmet patient needs, the Breeze solution is a playful and more effective, accurate and reliable approach for quantification of lung function in a single measurement. The Breeze will be sold to end-users as a subscription-based service covering whistle hardware and the comprehensive monitoring and management App. Additional whistles can be purchased separately. The primary targeted end-users will be parents/carers of asthmatic children, for whom the USP is a more accurate, reliable and user-friendly product compared to existing standards at an affordable price.
