Workshop on The long-term potential of marine biotechnology.

The workshop is one of several that are being organised during 2014-2015 as an integral part of the OECD project The Future of the Ocean Economy - Exploring the prospects for emerging ocean industries to 2030 (see: www.oecd.org/futures/oceaneconomy.htm) and aims to organize a discussion among leading Maritime Biotechnology experts on the future development within this subject field. The workshop will be attended by persons from industry and academia as well as policy makers. The Agenda has two main topics (Low Footprint Bio-production and Ocean & Human Health) with five subtopics altogether and each of the topics will be opened for discussion with keynote introductions. The results of the workshop will be published as an OECD Working Paper and the key elements of workshop will be integrated into the Final Report of the project. Both the WP and Report will be made public at a symposium in Korea, planned for spring 2016. The topics to be addressed and their discussion points are dealt with in the attached Agenda for the workshop.
