The Microbial Methane Filter in the Arctic: Resilience and Response to Climate Change (RIS-ID 10208)

Tildelt: kr 54 999

The overall goal of the project is to investigate the impact of climate change and seasonal events on the methane oxidation potential in High- and in the Sub-Arctic terrestrial ecosystems. We want to identify the key players in the microbial methane cycle, their adaption to their habitat and their resilience and response to changing environmental conditions. We will address the influence of vegetation, temperature, hydrology and different methane concentrations on the microbial communities, using samples from Svalbard (Solvatn, Ny-Ålesund) and Northern Norway.
