High-resolution mapping of tidewater glaciers of Hornsund with Terrestrial Laser Scanning, RiS ID 10414

Tildelt: kr 61 557

The tidewater glaciers of Hornsund have undergone a dramatic recession since the end of LIA, exposing a new embayment of Brepollen. Caving remains the most important sink in the overall mass balance, enhancing the retreat rate. In order to investigate the calving mechanisms and mass balance the glaciers will be mapped with subdecimeter precision using an ultra-high range Terrestrial Laser Scanner. This will provide us with glacial DTMs that will be used to study the calving processes and as an input in mass balance modelling
