High resolution Pleiades DEM validation by ground based GNSS and estimation of annual volume changes and calving fluxes, RIS ID 10138

Tildelt: kr 79 999

The aim of this project is to derive volume changes of Kronebreen in the most recent years and to test the ability to derive an annual volume change from space-borne and in-situ data. The base dataset for the project is a high resolution DEM from the Pleiades satellite acquired in 2014. This dataset will be compared to earlier DEMs and field based GNSS profiles acquired on the glacier as well as with the GNSS profiles planned for the 2016 field season. We aim to validate the space-born DEM that is generated without Ground Control Points, to determine the absolute accuracy of the product in glaciated regions, and moreover to test the ability to acquire nearly annual glacier volume changes from it.
