Functional Metagenomics (FMG) is a growing research field within biotechnology, aiming at the functional description of microbial diversity in nature and developing and employing dedicated tools for a more efficient function-based screening of microbial metagenomes for exploitable functions, like new industrial enzymes and new bioactive compounds for medical applications.
Functional Metagenomics 2016 is the 2nd open conference of an international interest group of researchers around the globe, 'Functional Metagenomics International', involving in FMG R&D. The conference aims at promoting the exchange of research results between internationally leading research groups and companies in the field of FMG, as well as networking for the purpose of establishing new, and strengthening existing national and international collaborations.
Functional Metagenomics 2016 will take place at Jægtvolden Fjordhotell, Inderøy, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, September 25-28, 2016. It will be organized by SINTEF Materials and Chemistry, Department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, together with other SINTEF staff, sponsors and personnel at the meeting venue. A strong internatonal Scientific Organizing Committee of renowned scientists will ensure a high quality scientific conference program with lectures covering the entire spectrum of FMG. Besides in total 30 oral presentations, the conference program will incude poster sessions and an exhibition of commercial suppliers of FMG related consumables and services, as well as extended breaks, joint lunches and dinners, and a half-day social event for extensive netwoking between the participants.
