Wheels make it considerably easier to move and handle heavy objects. Wheel.me will do just that - put the world on hidden spherical wheels. The project will provide smart wheels in an Internet of Things (IoT) value proposition that enables the user to move and control objects to their desired position through wireless communication, an app and/or voice activation. The wheels can be used to move virtually anything in any direction, e.g. beds, chairs, sofas, kitchen islands, a refrigerator, tables - and even non-load bearing walls - the possibilities are almost endless. As such, the project addresses both an existing need in the market in a better way, while also catering to a need not yet covered by existing solutions. We have so far completed the development of two furniture leg products with a patented roller device integrated in a cylinder/castor sleeve that can lift and lower sofas and other furniture. The products were certified by MøbelFakta in 12/2016. In terms of TRL level, we assess the novel furniture leg to have reached TRL7/8, while the IoT offering pursued in the SME Instrument phase 1 program is at TRL6. We will at first focus our commercial efforts towards "smart home" applications together with high-end furniture manufacturers, while paving the ground for offerings catering to the professional (B2B) market with asset- and facility management, providing tracking and logistics efficiencies for e.g. hospitals, schools, conference centers and hotels. The primary objective of Wheel.me's SME Instrument phase 1 project will - as per the program's guideline - be to deliver a Feasibility Study underpinning the development and commercialization journey of the company's novel IoT offering, focusing on advancing TRL-levels, reducing commercial risks and mitigating entry barriers. The study will summarize tasks and activities related to e.g. risk assessment, market study, user involvement, IP management, innovation strategy and feasibility of concept.
