Cost reduction of PV system with enhanced performance

SUPER will target lower installation costs and higher performance, i.e. Performance Ratio (PR) throughout the lifetime. The present call covers installation costs from module assembly to installed system, and as of today these costs represent more than 2/3 of the total installation costs for utility scale solar farms. SuPer will specifically work with lowering costs for module assembly. Moreover, costs for power electronics (inverters) and system configuration (electrical layout) will be targeted. Also, new innovative solutions related to light management and anti-soiling of solar modules will be developed. In addition to installation costs, the present call is focused on performance throughout the lifetime of a solar facility. The Performance Ratio is the quotient of alternating current (AC) yield and the nominal yield of the generator's direct current (DC), and it is a globally accepted indicator to judge the performance of grid connected PV Plants. PR is affected by the solar module?s operating temperature, inverter efficiency, soiling (dust, snow), wiring losses and electrical mismatch between solar cells in a module (and between modules in an inverter string). SUPER will apply big data from real utility solar facilities (Scatec solar, Ayesa), to monitor and improve PR. SUPER aims to have demonstrators in different climates; hot desert, salty and high humidity sea coast and cold climate.
