PRIO PES RAMMEBEVILGNING 2018

PRIO's strategy for 2014-2017 emphasizes the importance of increasing PRIO's participation in projects funded through the European Commission's Horizon 2020 R&D programme. PRIO is in the process of developing a new strategy for the next four-year period (to be implemented from June 2018 onwards), but this, too, is likely to emphasize the importance of diversifying sources of funding, and seeking longer-term funding, both of which would be achieved by increased participation in H2020, and by influencing the development of the European Commission's ninth framework programme for research and development (FP9). The RCN's Project Establishment Support framework grant that PRIO has received over the last years has greatly facilitated PRIO's ability to devote resources to developing projects for submission to European sources of financing. We feel encouraged by our success, and hope that a renewal of the PES framework agreement in 2018 would allow us to maintain and further develop our participation in European Commission funding arrangements. Developing projects takes considerable resources, and a PES framework agreement is more efficient for PRIO than applying for PES support on a case by case basis.
