Stable & high quality energy delivery for a renewable energy future through Applied flexibility in a SmarT neighbourhood Network.

Tildelt: kr 49 999

Energy systems today have been designed as a static system for a theoretical maximum and being operated by periodic cycles; night/day, summer/winter etc. This has given excess capacity in the grid most of the time, and a high Operational Expenditure and Capital Expenditure for the power grid owners. New appliances are consuming less energy (Wh) than older once, but they often demand higher effect (W). This combined with increase of electrical appliances and new type of appliances like solar panels, wind turbines and electric vehicles gives a new operating environment for the grid. Thus, regulating amount of energy, capacity and congestion is key to keep the grid in operating conditions and represent a huge cost savings for the DSO’s and TSO’s. The innovation behind ASToN is based on Meshcrafts’ SmartCharge platform which is a charge Point Management platform. SmartCharge enables individual control over EV charge points, delivering analytics, load management and payment to a charge point. Our ASToN system will give same approach to other assets connected to the grid - from micro (buildings) to big flexibility markets, through mini-markets (neighbourhoods). The Meshcrafts ASToN solution combined with existing and new sensors and controllers in buildings will meet the requirements identified and experienced from the future users: 1) Ability to harvest, aggregate and utilize local flexibility and enable the micro systems to provide local demand/response; 2) Ability to use existing hardware and system and provide more functionality and provide instant added value. Meshcrafts’ ASToN system will effectively collect data from multiple sources and sensors in real time. Existing SoA are all proprietary systems with functionality that only works with their own produced HW that not appreciate that a particular issue only is one variable in a more complex challenge. M&M estimates the total Smart Grid Software market will be at €50.65 Bn in 2022.
