SAFETY TESTING IN THE LIFE CYCLE OF NANOTECHNOLOGY-ENABLED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR HEALTH

Tildelt: kr 8 999

The objective is to develop state-of-the art knowledge to assessing the safety of manufactured medical nanodevices in humans to promote a safe-by-design concept. STAMI has a broad activity in investigating the health effects of nanomaterials. In addition, STAMI participates in a range of national (NorNanoReg,DeMAskUs, ...) and international projects (NanoReg) regarding adverse health effects of nanomaterials both naturally occuring, and engineered nanomaterials fabricated by Nanosciences/nanotechnologies. During last years STAMI has built capacity and infrastructure in the field of particle toxicology to be able to participate in EU projects. This has made STAMI an attractive partner at EU as well as at international Level. For example, STAMI participated in the FP7 NanoReg project and successfully completed its obligations. In 2018, we have been invited and have participated in a 2-stage Horizon 2020 proposal "SAFETY TESTING IN THE LIFE CYCLE OF NANOTECHNOLOGY-ENABLED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR HEALTH" (call ID H2020-NMBP-TO-IND-2018-2020). This proposal includes a consortium of 22 partners led by Biopraxis Research AIE in Spain. This proposal has now passed successfully the stage one evaluation and the consortium has been invited to submit a complete proposal to EU commission by June 28th 2018. STAMI's role in the Project is to study health effects of nanomedical devices from design to end of life, focusing on the Health effects of the work force involved. The objective is to develop state-of-the art knowledge and efficient, reliable methods to assessing the safety of manufactured medical nanodevices in humans to promote a safe-by-design concept.
