Niels Bohr International Academy Workshop-School

Tildelt: kr 39 999

We hereby apply for 70 000 NOK as partial coverage of the expenses in connection with the Niels Bohr International Academy Workshop-School on ESS Science, taking place in Copenhagen, June 25-29 (2018). This year's school, co-organized by Heloisa Bordallo at Niels Bohr Institute (NBI), Juergen Eckert at University of South Florida (USF) and Kenneth D. Knudsen (IFE), is entitled "Deciphering the hidden dynamics of Soft Matter". The goal of the school is to present students with the forefront of neutron scattering and molecular dynamics methods, and the application to current research in complex soft matter systems. The school will furthermore prepare the ground for use of neutron facilities in general, including NcNeutron (Kjeller) and the European spallation source (ESS) currently being built in Lund. Norway and Denmark are among the partner countries of ESS, and presently collaborate in the construction of two of the upcoming instruments (BIFROST and HEIMDAL). The co-organizers outside Norway, Prof. Bordallo and Prof. Eckert already have tight collaborations with Norwegian scientists, as guest researchers on the Frinatek project "CO2 Capture and Retention by Smectite Clays" (proj. no 250728) - a national collaboration between NTNU and IFE with Prof. Knudsen as project leader.
