5G Glass-to-Glass Media Production and Distribution for Connecting and Safeguarding Society at Scale (Finally5G)

Tildelt: kr 0,16 mill.

Finally5G is about bringing the European 5G Vision as close to deployment as possible by validating fourteen real-life demanding vertical use cases and their various combinations in real-world situations during large events in premium 5G end-to-end (E2E) facilities. Finally5G will exploit the 5G New Radio (NR) and the service-enabled 5G Core technologies of 3GPP Stand-Alone (SA) releases Rel-15 and Rel-16, which will be “finally” available for testing in trials and pilots under real life operational conditions. The Finally5G will focus on two broad vertical sectors Media and Entertainment (M&E), covering the glass (of a professional camera or the user’ device) to glass (of the consumption device) media value chain, and Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) industries. M&E will be divided in turn into two clusters, i.e. professional content production and media engagement and distribution. The project will implement fourteen distinct use cases, which are of interest by the three sectors, representing challenges usage scenarios for the future 5G networks. The fourteen use cases will be implemented on the top of the available 5G network infrastructure, to ensure monitoring the performance of the 5G networks with respect to service requirements and KPIs pertinent to the individual use cases. The 5G network performance will be also observed while several use cases are running in parallel and are competing for the available 5G network resources among each other – so called concurrent testing. Specifically, Finally5G will test and validate the 5G performance in the field in terms of speed, latency, availability, quality, load throughput, reliability, robustness, security and recovery while operating demanding use cases in parallel and under conditions of a high-network load.
