Resubmission of ERC CoG proposal REMAIN

The REMAIN proposal focuses on modeling carbon turnover in permafrost regions, using permafrost process models and paleo-climate simulations to infer the conditions during which carbon stored in permafrost today was formed. In doing so, REMAIN proposes to describe the vulnerability of permafrost and its carbon stocks as a function of its history, taking local factors such as the formation of thaw lakes into account.
