Scale-up of our disruptive platform for pharma cold chain monitoring

Tildelt: kr 99 999

The overall aim of the Svalinn project is to mature, pilot, scale-up and commercialise our disruptive and patent pending Svalinn platform for Pharma cold chain monitoring. It solves the needs of both end-clients with a focus on remote temperature monitoring across all the phases of pharma cold-chain logistics, including vaccines. Our Svalinn platform is based on technology breakthroughs in disposable printed labels (i.e. Tag Sensors) and batteries (Enfucell), to deliver the first low cost, fully automatic and customisable temperature logger that fulfils pharmaceutical cold-chain standards such as the EU Good Distribution Practices (GDP), in place since 2013. The final product will be piloted and validated by UNICEF as the our third consortium partner. Our consortium has developed and patented during previous R&D projects a disruptive solution for the niche markets of pharma cold chain monitoring - solving the above global industrial and societal challenges. Monitoring cold chain on our Svalinn platform allows for complete temperature log from production to retail. Logging temperature with our system can be manually done just as easy as with current devices or even automatically by gate readers. Moreover, our online database provides secured data management and allows setting personalised temperature limits and alerts in real-time. Through an automatically generated report, our temperature logger can show where in the value chain temperature breaches happened and find which transport/logistic provider should be held accountable for insurance claims. The aim of the envisaged project is to move our current Svalinn prototype technology to full commercialisation onto the global markets. The Svalinn technology has a major market potential compared to current state-of-the-art technology. As the envisaged FTI project builds upon a validated prototype technology, the majority of our efforts will be focused on piloting and commercialisation activities.
