One in ten children are born prematurely. Pre-term children have large fluctuations in cerebral blood flow, increasing the risk of brain damage substantially (>50% for pre-terms born before week 28). To avoid brain damage, there is a strong need for continuous cerebral circulation monitoring. Neonatologists need a non-invasive technology to continuously and more directly monitor cerebral blood flow and to correlate the readings with treatments and outcomes. No adequate technology is currently available. To meet this demand, CIMON Medical proposes to develop and launch a unique NeoDoppler product for non-invasive monitoring of cerebral blood-flow to enable clinical decisions to be made timely in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).
