Integration of Blockchain Innovations with Open Science & Electronic Content Management towards Trusted Digital Value chains (BlockDOSE)

Advancing the publishing industry in the digital age requires solutions for issues currently driving the IT and Software Sector, e.g. big data, machine learning, IT security, data protection, and cross-enterprise collaboration. The project will enable a further digitalisation of the publishing, media and communications value chains by applying this knowledge base in an exemplary way, thereby increasing the competitiveness of publishing enterprises. Via a cross-sectoral approach, leading media, news, publishing and IT clusters of the BlockDOSE consortium spread across the EU will create cross-border and cross-sectoral collaborations between academia and industry. This will be achieved through an open collaboration space consisting of workshops, a semantic online matchmaking portal complemented by matchmaking events that will allow publishing enterprises to identify the most suitable IT/blockchain company across the EU and associated countries. Achieving successful interoperability of open science data hinges on how academia and industry exploit the potential of DLTs such as blockchain, data acyclic graph, hashgraph and ouroboros etc into large-scale demonstrations or pilots and further integrate that knowledge to develop products and services and formulate new business models in order to generate growth. In this project, the prime purpose of the financial support to the third parties (FSTP) will be the use of DLTs/blockchains for efficient data sharing, enable interoperability, create transparency in the review process and business models incentivising the involved parties in the process. Moreover, via smart contracts, the enterprises should be able to develop transparent systems that will log author-publisher-reader relationships across the value chain.
