Retractable bow foils to promote ships unprecedented fuel savings and motion reduction

The overall vision of the Wavefoil Accelerator Pilot project is to prototype, pilot and commercialise our complete solution for efficient and green ship propulsion as well as for improving ship motion and seasickness. Our company has developed an innovative and proprietary, patented retractability system for ship foils that stores the foils vertically within the hull of the ship and deploys them in a continuous vertical and rotational motion. This enables to install the foils far forward in the bow of the ship where the benefits have been demonstrated to be higher. Wavefoils retractable bow foils provide fuel savings, decrease in CO2 emission, reduced motions and a more comfortable experience at sea. We have developed different modules to fit specific types of ships. The Wavefoil project will focus on the WF5910 module which is a large size foil module suitable for cruise ships, offshore vessels and cargo vessels between 80 and 200 meters. The aim of the envisaged project is to move our current prototype technology to full commercialisation onto the global market. The WF5910 technology has a major market potential compared to current state-of-the-art technologies. To increase our commercial success and impact, we have created a Strategic Business Plan, as a detailed roadmap, describing all necessary activities we need to undertake to ensure a successful market introduction. Now, we seek to develop our Commercialisation Plan (CP), which will form an important part of the final Business Innovation Plan (BIP), to be created in this Accelerator Pilot project. As the envisaged Accelerator Pilot project builds upon a validated prototype technology, the majority of our efforts will be focused on piloting and commercialisation activities.
