Cloud Offering using Revision Compliant Smart Operation

The Operation Lifecycle of a SaaS offering starts by deploying the offering onto a cloud, then operate the job and after termination archive the relevant information. Our proposal addresses the challenge of revision management especially for SMEs, who are in the need to adapt to external influence factors like customers, 3rd party cloud provider and legal issues. Currently the cloud operator has to manually configure deployment scripts – independent if using CAMEL, TOSCA or proprietary configuration files – in order to ensure the contractually agreed SLAs. So, the main focus is to avoid SLA violations by continues cost monitoring. We, see this only as the starting point which becomes more and more complex like: • Deploying and continuously managing SLAs wrt. to response time, and costs • Ensuring GDPR compliant and customer specific deployment of data repositories • Enabling a global deployment of data repositories, where a transparent layer encapsulates the complexity for the application • Enabling the management of the deployment, by immediate security breaches, alerting in case an SLA is in risk to be violated, or enable brokerage where jobs are distributed – similar to the stock market – to reduce the costs of the operator. Those aforementioned issues getting more and more complex and are hard to handle by SMEs, who typically have some experts on cloud operation who have to decide on how to configure the deployment. This project proposes a smart assistant that supports operators in: • Generating deployment configurations – CAMEL, TOSCA or similar specification, that are compliant with business-, legal- and ethical- regulations • Monitoring the deployment to observe use of services and automatically or semi-automatically adapting the deployment during operation • Archiving the deployment configuration to provide lessons learnt to the service provider.
