Norwegian Lobster Farm Eurostars PES

The overall objective of the Eurostars miniaturisation project is to produce a proof of business, to showcase the scalability of the first fully automated European lobster farm. Our concept anchors automation in the aquaculture production of European lobster – we will do this via cutting edge image processing and robotics and the latest knowledge in lobster biology and behaviour. In our new miniaturised farm, we will test and establish animal welfare protocols, as well as cost effective methods to predict harvest quality. We will also include the care of the breeding animals into the miniaturised farm, thus closing the last loops missing from our previous projects (Autohatch and Automarus). Our project is well aligned to the EUROSTARS-3 programme, as it is an early-stage high risk R&D-focused projects with a large potential market and a short route to market. This project is based on the integration of several complementary specialist technology components and competencies. We meet the EUROSTARS-3 criteria by: - Being an international consortium, from at least two EUROSTARS-3 countries Norway (Norwegian Lobster Farm and Motorteknikk) and Denmark (IH Food) - Being led by an R&D intensive SME as a coordinator (Norwegian Lobster Farm) - Having complementary competencies, core to the development of the miniaturised farm - Having mutual interest and individual benefits from the successful development of the miniaturised farm system focussing on research, development, and later full-scale commercialisation of the fully automated farm system, where we intend to continue our collaboration.
