Critical Placemaking for Inclusive Cities

InclusiveCity tar sikte på å revurdere placemaking og 15-minutters bykonseptet gjennom linsen sosial inkludering, mangfold og FNs bærekraftsmål. Bygge på resultatene fra JPI Urban Europe-prosjektet PlaceCity og ved å bruke en integrert tilnærming som tar hensyn til aspektene ved sosial, økonomisk og miljømessig påvirkning, vil prosjektet utvikle et sett med verktøy, metoder og retningslinjer for å støtte multigenerasjon og kjønn -inkluderende bruk av offentlige rom og gi tilgang til naturverdier (urbane vannkanter), samtidig som sårbare grupper og aktiviteter beskyttes mot de negative effektene, for eksempel gentrifisering, turistifisering, kommersialisering av offentlig romfornyelse og design. For å støtte verktøykasseutviklingen og testmetodene med konkrete felterfaringer, vil det bli etablert fem pilotprosjekter (Urban Living Labs) i fem europeiske byer: Budapest, Oslo, Roma, Rotterdam og Wien. Disse pilotene, etablert med involvering av lokale interessenter, lokalsamfunn og spesifikke målgrupper, vil ta for seg ulike SDGs som tilsvarer lokale utfordringer. Basert på tilnærmingen til kritisk plassering og lokal utvikling, vil pilotene kobles sammen med et delt metodisk rammeverk informert av verktøyene og metodene utviklet av partnerskapet, og dermed skape en sirkulær forsknings- og innovasjonslogikk som kobler forskning, policydesign og verktøykasseutvikling med Urban Living Labs.

InclusiveCity aims at rethinking placemaking and the 15-minute city concept through the lens of social inclusion, diversity and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Building on the results of the JPI Urban Europe project PlaceCity and using an integrated approach that takes into account the aspects of social, economic and environmental impact, the project will develop a set of tools, methods and policies to support the multi-generational and gender-inclusive use of public spaces and granting access to natural assets (urban waterfronts), while protecting vulnerable groups and activities from the adverse effects, for example gentrification, touristification, commercialisation of public space renewal and design. To support the toolbox development and test methods with concrete field experiences, five pilot projects (Urban Living Labs) will be established in five European cities: Budapest, Oslo, Rome, Rotterdam and Vienna. These pilots, established with the involvement of local stakeholders, communities, and specific target groups, will address various SDGs corresponding to local challenges. Based on the approach of critical placemaking and local development, the pilots will be connected by a shared methodological framework informed by the tools and methods developed by the partnership, thus creating a circular research & innovation logic that connects research, policy design and toolbox development with Urban Living Labs.
