Kick-off meeting of the Circum-Arctic Present and Future Ecology of the Soil Food Web Network

Tildelt: kr 0,12 mill.

Soil food webs play an important role in the functioning of Arctic ecosystems, but our knowledge of the distribution, dispersal and impacts of different organism groups is scarce. This project aims to gather experts on different aspects of the soil food web and its impacts, to paint an overview of the current state of knowledge and future research priorities. By summarizing the existing knowledge gaps, we will be able to highlight the most important areas that remain to be explored, set up a collaboration framework and suggest harmonized methods for future studies. A two-day workshop will serve as a basis for the writing of a publication summarizing existing data and their limitations, and will be the cradle of a network for Arctic soil ecologists that will span across countries but more importantly across domains of expertise: from plant roots and their consumers to microorganisms, gases and their impacts on the climate system.
