EcoUpgrade EU, Eurostars, PES

The overall objective of the Eurostars EcoUpgrade EU project is to develop, and pilot test an AI tool that equips construction professionals and providing property owners with clear, actionable information about their renovation decisions and benefits in compliance with EU regulations such as the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) that has been implemented in Norway since 2010. This development is dependent on our initial establishment of a comprehensive database drawing on publicly available data and on-site inspections of buildings across Europe. This will provide us with an accurate assessment of the existing conditions of European buildings, that can inform decision making for the AI. We will train our AI algorithm with the collected data to create an output of relevant recommendations for renovation actions with a positive impact on the building’s energy efficiency according to EBPD. The output should be actionable for renovation professionals and property owners to perform. Our project is well aligned to the EUROSTARS 3 programme, as the grant is focused on early-stage high risk R&D projects with a large potential market and a short route to market. This project is based on the integration of several complementary specialist technology components and competencies such as: AI-technology, database- and cloud technology, and energy efficiency in construction requiring competencies such as: data scientists, AI specialists, and energy engineers. We meet the EUROSTARS 3 criteria by: - Being an international consortium, from at least two EUROSTARS 3 countries Norway (Proptly) and Germany (Autarc) - Being led by an R&D intensive SME as a coordinator (Proptly) - Having complementary competencies, core to the development of AI tool - Having mutual interest and individual benefits from the successful development of the AI system focussing on development and later commercialisation of the AI-based software, where we intend to continue our collaboration.
