PETROMAKS-Maksimal utnyttelse av petroleumsreserver

Geologic reservoir caracterisation. Alluvial deposits, controlling factors, processes, architectural style and hetrogeneities

Tildelt: kr 3,7 mill.

The aim of the project is to understand the main factors controlling fluvial systems and their geometry in different sedimentary basins. The object is to develop models from outcrop studies that can be used as predictive tools in subsurface petroleum expl oration and production in fluvial reservoirs. The study will focus on geometry, architecture, connectedness, facies relationships and hetrogeneities in outcrops from different fluvial systems and settings. Correlation of this information with subsurface d ata like cores, wire-line logs, seismic information and production data will be an essential part of the study. Correlation between different settings would provide a better basis for development of fluvial models and modelling that can help the interpret ation of seismic data and borehole logs.
