If natural gas is condensed under pressure, less energy is required for the condensation process compared to atmospheric LNG. Due to the reduced amount of heat to be transferred in the condensation process, reduced power consumption and the reduced requir ement for pre-treatment, the investment cost and operation cost of the liquefaction plant will be lower than for a conventional LNG process. The process will also be more environmentally friendly due to the reduced CO2 emissions. If applicable, CO2 tax sa vings. Natural gas condensed under pressure at a higher temperature, can dissolve more CO2 and heavier hydrocarbons than gas condensed at atmospheric pressure. Therefore it is possible to reduce the amount of processing at the host facility. It is of inte rest to develop a concept where natural gas is condensed under pressure may be competitive for medium to long distance transport of natural gas. The concept will be an alternative to pipelines, CNG, GTL, methanol and hydrate gas transport for infrastructu re-independent development of stranded gas fields in the range of 1 to 4 billion CM/yr.The ships will also be suitable for transportation of liquid CO2 which may be carried back for disposal or injection into an oil reservoir on the return voyage.
