Over pressure protection ofoil platforms is crucial to operation regularity, crew and equipment. Over pressurizing incidents on platform installations result from faulty operationof pressurised flow lines and uncertainties in modelling. These incidents may cause unrestricted unload ofoilandgas towards the platform process system. Such a worst case scenario has the potential to destroy a platform, or in less serious cases cause stops in the operationof the facilities.
The incidents described above can naturally not be tested in real operational offshore installations and must therefore be evaluated and improved by means of modelling and experimental work. The projcet group that is to be established will look further into the current technology and methods for improvement of today's modelling andoperation.
