The Proteomics Core Facility at Rikshospitalet-Radiumhospitalet (RR-PCF) is a core facility platform organized jointly by Rikshospitalet-Radiumhospitalet HF (RR) and the University of Oslo (UiO) through "Felles Forskningsutvalg" at the hospital. The RR-PC F is engaged in the development of proteomic methodology and in the provision of proteomic service functions to regional research groups at RR and UiO. With this application the RR-PCF is aiming to participate as an individual node in a diversified Norweg ian proteomics network in which we will provide high quality national service, technology and resources. Based on cutting-edge research performed at RR-PCF, we have recently developed technologies which we will bring to a diversified Norwegian proteomics platform and which we will offer as a specialized service and competence to the Norwegian research community. The provided methodology is complementary to those offered as service by the other potential nodes of the consortium. Several applications will be submitted to FUGE through channel 3 which will take advantage of the infrastructure and competence present at the RR-PCF. This will result in a continuous research-driven development of new techniques at the RR-PCF. In collaborations with Fridtjof Lund -Johansen and with Clive D'Santos at PROBE/Bergen, we will focus on establishing methods for high-throughput screening and on integrating tools from bioinformatics to allow the handling and evaluation of huge and complex data sets. With this application the RR-PCF also aims to increase its capacity with respect to service provided to local research groups at RR and UiO. As the request for such routine analyses is steadily increasing, we are approaching the limits of our capacity. In order to meet our am bitions to act as an active node in a Norwegian proteomics consortium we apply for one technical position. The RR-PCF's host institutions will gradually take over responsibility for the position applied for.
