Promoting Research Collaboration around Women and ICT in Latin-America and Europe through the Regional Centres in Argentina and Norway

The European Centre for Women and Technology through its Secretariat in Norway and the UNESCO Regional Chair on Women, Science and Technology in Latin America with its headquarters in Argentina desire to organize a three day international workshop in Dram men the 12-14th of November to develop new knowledge, innovative strategies and plans for the institutional framework for long-term research co-operation between Latin-America and Europe with the two regional centres as co-ordinators. Based on the find ing of the meeting the two centres desire to start up long-term research collaboration from year 2009. The UNESCO Chair, the Vice-President of the University College of Buskerud, Chairman of the Board of Papirbredden Innovasjon and the CEO of Papirbredd en Innovasjon have expressed their support of the project. The proposed international workshop with the goal of preparing the institutional framework for long-term interregional research co-operation targets two of the key areas of the Research Programme on Latin-America: 1.Culture and society: Gender relations with a specific focus on the gender digital gap. 2.Economy, industry, business and markets: A gender perspective on Technology and innovation and Employment and the informalisation of the econo mies. Outcomes 1.Publication compiling the articles presented at the international workshop 2.Recommendations for an action-plan creating the institutional framework for long-term bilateral and interregional co-operation including: - mobility issues, - joint research programmes, - incorporation of researchers at different stages of their academic careers. - training programmes, - joint development of new applications in the field of e-governance, e-business, e-health, e-greentech, biomedicine etc. Indicators are specified in the detailed project description The overall budget for the international workshop and presentation of the action-plan for long-term collaboration is 630.000 NOK.
