IEA Energy Storage IA

Tildelt: kr 0,45 mill.

Energy Conservation through Energy Storage (ECES) Implementing Agreement (IA) was established in 1978. The strategic objectives for the IA are as follows: 1.Technology: Maintain and develop international technical R&D collaborations that further the envir onmental and market objectives. 2.Environment: Quantify and publicise the environmental and energy efficiency benefits of integrated energy storage systems. 3.Market and Deployment: Develop and deliver information to support appropriate market deployment and provide effective collaboration and information to stakeholders. Contracting Parties from the 15 countries and sponsors have signed the Implementing Agreement. Norway joined the IA in 2004. Dr Kirsti Midttømme, NGI is the Norwegian delegate in the E xecutive Committee (ExCo). She was chairman of the ExCo in the period 2006-2009. Energy Storage is a key technology for many energy alternatives. Waste heat from industrial processes, steam from solar thermal power plants or electricity from photovoltai c panels are examples for energy sources, which can be used more extensively with energy storages. A huge potential of energy sources substituting fossil fuels can only be exploited by energy storage systems, utilizing renewable like solar thermal and win d energy By participating in IEA-ECES, Norway will have access to established international energy technology network. Norwegian academic institutions and Norwegian industry will be invited to attend numerous workshops and activities organised by IEA-EC ES within its existing annexes. The RCNfunding will contribute to the: 1.ECES Common fund, 2.Participation for the delegate in the ExCo meetings 3.Organization and information to ECES about the Norwegian Energy Storage activities 4. Information to t he active and potential Norwegian partners about the ongoing and planned activities within ECES
