Workshops on 'Policy Options for Cuba's Development: Preparing for the Post-Embargo Era'

Two workshops, one in Havana and another in Oslo, aim to bring together scholars and policy makers from Cuba and Norway to address the pressing policy challenges facing Cuba in a period of economic transformation and extensive reforms. Furthermore, throug h these events, we wish to integrate experiences also from Brazil and South Africa, having been through similar economic reforms, to explore the relevance of these for the current Cuban situation. The events will include leading Cuban academics, actively involved in reform efforts, in aiming for both academic interchange and policy impact. These novel and integrative workshops will strengthen the academic network between Norwegian and Cuban scholars working on Latin American issues, facilitate impacting i nterchange of knowledge and policy experiences across borders, and raise public awareness of the issues under discussion.
