Digitally based services and applications in transport must ensure that mobility is defined in a context where accessibility, inclusion and equity focusing vulnerable to exclusion groups is taken into account since the beginning of the creation process of mobility solutions. In a day-by-day more technologically advanced society, in which the attention is mainly put towards the smart cities and citizens that have in hand the most advanced tools, this project addresses vulnerable to exclusion citizens with the objective to find out the keys to achieve an inclusive public transport that can effectively satisfy their needs. This will be done by following an innovative approach based on a research methodology that (i) put the researcher close to the citizens, to make them get involved and to be active in the process of effectively detecting when digitalization becomes a barrier and (ii) considers the technology as a mean and not as an objective to enhance the mobility options in the city. MARVIN will investigate and analyze several European areas in which socio-cultural elements can define how public transport is understood and used: South, Central, West, North and East Europe, involving more than 3000 people from both urban and rural areas. MARVIN will develop a model to identify advanced transport solutions that could have as an undesirable effect the exclusion of part of the population. As a result, a complete set of recommendations for policy makers will be produced to support the design of a definitively inclusive mobility: (a) tools, (b) services and (c) strategies to follow. The results will be transferred to a wide Take-Up user group, that will be created from the beginning of the project to receive inputs and provide feedback on the main stages.
